Growing up, I looked forward to the weekends because I got to go to work with my dad, a custom homebuilder.  I never knew it while I was tagging along, but I was learning from the best!  As a teenager, I got hand and power tools on birthdays and holidays…and if that wasn’t weird enough, I loved it!  My tools, especially those handed down from my dad, were my pride and joy – and I always looked for ways to use them.​

My first career, however, was in Quality Assurance and Operations. In all, I spent ~20 years in the defense, telecom, and industrial manufacturing industries as a quality professional – the majority of those years in Quality and Operations Management. I was extremely lucky to start my professional career when and where I did. I received an invaluable professional/corporate upbringing from a young age. In the 1990’s, Texas Instruments (Defense Systems and Electronics Group) became one of the worldwide leaders in teaming, manufacturing, 6-sigma quality, quality management, team management, process improvement, supplier management and more. Along the way, I learned to build and manage all kinds of projects and teams. As an organization, we won many awards and accreditations like International ISO certifications, The Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award and others. I was part of the presentation team that hosted many commercial and military organizations from around the world whose mission was to learn more about teaming, quality, and best in class manufacturing. Today, I still love building and growing organizations, teams and people.

For my second career, I obviously chose remodeling and construction. I simply enjoy it! For me (and the team I’ve built) it’s a passion! You can see it in our work and our service. Over the past 20 years, I’ve learned it’s hard to find a well-run organization with quality tradesmen. I think consumers are more likely to have a poor experience than a great experience when hiring a wide verity of tradesmen and contractors. I too search for quality tradesmen and contractors non-stop – and the far majority that I meet just don’t get it. So when I find a good one, I’m willing to pay a little more for that person, that company, that quality and that service. I think you are too!

So what’s the biggest difference between me and the other guys?  1st class professionalism and customer service from my corporate experience and training along with my personal principles on quality and attention to detail are all a big part of my work – but above all, I simply enjoy what I do, and it shows!  It’s true what they say; “Find a job you love, and you won’t work a day in your life!”
